Uses of Penicillin VK 500mg
Penicillin
VK is used for the treatment of streptococcal
infections; including:
- Dental infection
- Infections in the heart
- Middle ear infections
- Pharyngitis
- Rheumatic fever
- Scarlet fever
- Sinusitis
- Skin and soft tissue
infections
- Upper and lower respiratory
tract infections
Recommended: Penicillin
VK Dosages:
- Strep infections of
the upper respiratory tract and skin, and
scarlet fever - Usual Dosage -125 to 250mg
every 6 to 8 hours for 10 days.
- Pneumococcal infections
of the respiratory tract, including middle
ear infections - Usual Dosage - 250mg to
500mg every 6 hours until you have been
without a fever for at least 2 days.
- Staph infections of skin
- Usual Dosage - 250mg to 500mg every 6
to 8 hours.
- Gum infections known
as Vincent's gingivitis - Usual Dosage
- 250mg to 500mg every 6 to 8 hours
- Recurring Rheumatic fever
and/or chorea (infective disorder of the
nervous system) - Usual Dosage - 125mg
to 250mg 2 times a day on a continuing
basis.
Penicillin VK 500mg Directions
Penicillin
VK 500mg should be taken on either a full
or empty stomach, though better absorbed
when the stomach is empty. Always finish
the full course of your Penicillin Antibiotic
treatment, even if you begin to feel better
after a few days. Failure to finish the full
course of treatment can prevent elimination
of the infection.

- Anemia
- Black, hairy tongue
- Diarrhea
- Fever
- Hives
- Nausea
- Skin eruptions
- Stomach upset or pain
- Swelling in throat
- Vomiting.
Penicillin VK 500mg Precautions
If you are
allergic to either penicillin or cephalosporin
antibiotics in any form, consult your doctor
before taking penicillin VK 500mg. There
is a possibility that you are allergic to
both types of medication; and if a reaction
occurs, it could be extremely severe. If
you take PENICILLIN vk and feel signs of
a reaction, seek medical attention immediately.
Dose of Penicillin VK 500mg
Missed
Take your dose
of Penicillin VK 500mg that was missed as
soon as you remember. If it is nearly time
for the next dose, skip the missed dose and
resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the
dose. Store your Penicillin VK 500mg at room
temperature away from moisture and sunlight.
Do not store in the bathroom.
